She graduated from a public high school in Payatas three years ago, uncertain
about how she can bring her family closer to the good life. Now, Mary Rose
Patingo is a full-fledged Assumptionista, making her way gracefully through the
Assumption College's genteel community, confident that a brighter future is just
within her reach.

Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon offers Scholarship |
|
The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon (PACCO) will support the
Heritage Language Initiative at Portland State University by way of offering a
scholarship for a deserving student who would like to learn Tagalog and
Philippine culture. Fall term class for Heritage Tagalog starts September 27.
Completed application must be received at the PACCO office no later than
September 23, 2005 at 5:00. Applications can also be emailed to
junpioquinto@yahoo.com.

Heritage Language Initiative |
|
Dear Kababayan and Friends,
I am writing to you about the Heritage Language Initiative at Portland State
University. The program offers language courses for people who have a cultural
and linguistic connection with a language other than English. We welcome
community members as well as high school juniors and seniors. I want to
encourage you and your children to take advantage of this unique opportunity to
increase your language capabilities and to shape the future of our community.
