  Battlecry
Environment, Community and Societyleviuqse writes "In one of those rare family gatherings a number of relatives asked me why am I painstakingly staying here, why don’t I go abroad ‘cause according to them “wala na raw pag-asa ang Pilipinas”, I told them that “as much as possible ayaw kong umalis dito at hindi ako naniniwalang walang pag-asa dito sa Pinas.

The eyebrows of those who asked me shot into the orbit when they heard my words, clearly they were skeptical about my statement, and looked at me in utter disbelief. I almost anticipated them to ask me if I’m on drugs. No, I’m not into it, I don’t even smoke, I actually loathe people who are smoking within my 10 ft km range. Because for me it’s the devil’s scent. Pasintabi sa mga smokers.

So who wants to be a Filipino in these times? Surely, if this’ll be surveyed to the marginalized sector, they’ll gonna answer “Not me, saksak mo sa baga mo ang Pinas!!!” on a drop of a hat, plus tears, nasal mucus and drool flooding their faces.

Okay, maybe if I’ll be in their shoes I might understand them. But hey, first and foremost there’s no monopoly over poverty not even corruption, its everywhere. Second, life is how you manage it, so if you’re in beggary it’s a high time to re-asses yourself and make a plausible solution to get out of it. Easier said than done? Yeah I know, but this is one of the things worth trying isn’t? So let’s get started.

Oops I’m getting back on an old topic again.

One of the major shocker for me is how people nowadays wanted so badly to fly and get out of here ASAP. I wager if they could, they would’ve change their native colors into Michael Jackson white and be an American or Brit or Aussie or French. Many wants to become of another race and not be a Pinoy. Why is that so? Because most of us are equating our nationality to being poor, corrupt, baduy, miserable, damned, and sometimes it reminds us of a biscuit.

Ang baba naman ng tingin natin sa bansa natin….

Okay, okay, we have many faults na sobrang sarap ikahiya at di ako bulag dun. The bad traffic, the water and sewerage system, crime, unemployment, corrupt officials and the government that runs more like a freak show that what it should really be. And the list goes on and on. But then when you think about it, do we really have to fill our head with such rubbish? And are these the real problem?

No, I think not. I strongly believe that the problems are lack of love for our country, laziness and apathy. Apathy creates nothing but destruction in slow motion…

We are the ones who’s throwing trash everywhere and mindlessly at that (yun na lang di pa ilagay sa tama).

We are also the one driving madly/wildly/recklessly on the middle of the roads not thinking about the word ‘discipline’ (yun na lang tigas pa rin ng ulo)

And also most of us love to vote for a popular candidate during elections not minding if he’s a total dunderhead (tapos nagtataka tayo?)

When you analyze it, it all boils down to each and every individual’s hand. We are responsible for this, for what’s happening to our country. Laziness and silence pull us down. But only ourselves can silence ourselves. Do we have to play mute all the time?

May pag-asa pa….

I know by now you’ll probably thinking of delivering me to a mental institution writing these very words. Why am I so optimistic for this so-called moribund country? Buddy it’s more than just being optimistic, it’s called L-O-V-E.

O sige nga aber, pa’no naman aayos ‘tong bansing ‘to?

Hey *****roach, I believe even the people (aliens?) from the other side of the universe could also see what has to be done. Okay for your benefit (and if you’re too blinded not to see), just following the basics will do, we don’t need to play superhero here, common sense will suffice I’m sure. We could simply follow the rules that has been implemented and respect it, but of course we always have to be vigilant. Wag na tayo pasaway at sumunod nang maayos sa batas, have discipline, use your head! We could also study a political candidate’s motives for running, learn their platforms. We could join organizations that serves to the poor, to the community, or be a volunteer watchers over corruption. As I said simple things like these will do, and we can make the Philippines a better place. On yeah of course, corny mang sabihin, prayer. Prayers can work magic. But of course it is not limited to the definition of formula prayers bribing God empty promises of turning this country into a shimmering park. Faith should come with action and from action change begins.

So stop complaining, don’t wait for the government to make these amendments (most of them are a bit stupid), let’s move our butts so our country will be well off. Whining is only a big waste of energy, time and most especially, saliva.

I know its not gonna transform this land overnight, but it’s a good start, we all have the power to make. Every single action we take can create a wave far beyond we could imagine. So if it is, better do a nice first tread right? Choose now or lose tomorrow.

Ano bang meron dito at ganyan ang tingin mo sa bansang ‘to?

Our motherland has a lot to offer. At maraming aspeto ito na ipinagmamalaki ko. I’m proud of how we can create nothing to something (sa probnisiya madalas ‘to). I’m proud of our Philippine eagle, anahaw, adobo and lechon. I am proud of it’s majestic sunrise and sunset and its warmth. I love the vast bukirins, the magnificent mountains, the blue seas. I am proud of the strong family ties. I eulogize Manny Pacqiuao, Lea Salonga, Bata Reyes, Pat Evangelista and the SEA Games athletes, they’re the living proofs that the Filipino can. I also take pride of the Pinoy Bloggers (daming astig). I take pride of our being a happy crowd despite everything. Maraming marami kung iisa-isahin natin, and if we continue counting, it’ll heal the ugly wounds our land has for sure. It is a beautiful country all in all, and the best for me. We may lack of others wealthy thingies but we are rich in spirit. Do not let laziness and apathy and lack of love kill what’s beautiful in our motherland. Because this country is the soul of our being Pinoy.

We can do this.

I dream for our country to be the best that it can be. That’s why I’m lending my voice now. A tiny voice that is, if only be in sync with others will soon be a battlecry. Let’s love our Philippines, because no one else will…

I wrote this because I care.

Because I am a child of this land.

Because I am a Filipino.
