Bout God's Will and Our Dreams
Religion & Philosophyleviuqse writes "I was dining with a friend, who was ranting. Ranting, simply because he was itching to get out of his job. He wants to resign for the reason that his job is not him. Yeah, he may be getting a nice salary but with the prices sky-rocketing to the heavens, his value is only good for fare budget for the next pay day.

But that wasn’t this blog is all about. Before I could come back to another old topic of mine about salaries, bosses, etc. I better digress my focus into something more than that.

We were eating at Mcdonalds, and talked about the good old days when we used to be so invincible. That was when we haven’t met real world yet.

As we chatted, nostalgia floated in the air again. I not only smell the Big-Mac and fries but the past as well. I harked back in the time when my peers and I were chit-chatting with a “Do we really knew ourselves” topic”. I was shocked because most of my pals said “no”. They don’t even know what they really want, when asked what do they want out of their lives, they just answered the banal phrase “gusto kong yumaman”. My other friend asked what do they want after schooling, and a vague answer came in “gusto ko magtrabaho” and “gusto ko magka-stable job”.

Their answers hit me, is that it?

Their goals are as blurry as any swimmer’s eyesight in a murky water. They don’t have that definite objective significant to us humans. Significant because it’s one of the things that give us a meaning as a man.

To me, those buddies of mine was like they don’t even have dreams. Or not aiming hard enough. They didn’t dug themselves deep enough to know.

The dining friend of mine and I, were the only ones who answered Yes, I absolutely knew myself.”

And we cited how we want to direct our lives in the future. I thought my other pals thought we sounded so absurd that time. Actually we just sounded plain boastful I must say. We spoke of what our goals are. Specifically illustrating the path that we wanted to walk to as if we’ve already cemented it. We also said that we don’t want to be trapped inside the four corners of the office just to be ass-kissers working for someone else’s progression. We sounded much like we are planning something so huge for our lives. That dining comrade, was such a weirdo he doesn’t even believe there’s a stable job. And I thought he’s right.

One the stupid girls in my group taunted us, and was patting my left shoulder skeptically saying, “Ok lang yan, hindi masamang mangarap”.

“Exactly!”, I said. “then why do you have to limit your dreams for your future life, like you said, it wasn’t bad. Why devour mediocrity when you can seek for the best? The fight hasn’t started yet, and here you are already taking a back step?”.

“Hindi naman kasi ako kasing talino mo no”, the girl replied with a sneer.

“It’s not like that *****roach, I believe that God is good. He’s so good that he didn’t put us here in this world just to play the part of the stupid morons. He geared us with unique talents and endowments we could use to become as beautiful as He wants us to be. It is just our fault we are always shunning him away and we really enjoy groping in the dark.

“Ewan ko, siguro I’ll search for His will na lang.”

“No *****roach, don’t! That’s a big boo-boo you’ll be doing. You don’t have to tire yourself probing the whole world just to find it. Because his will is already inside us. In the depths
of our hearts. We will discover of his plans for us in our deepest aspirations. I believe we are in this world to work, to live and shake butts in accordance to the gifts God has given us. Gifts we bear since birth. But of course it’ll take time for prayer and faith to find out what are those”, I said in a preachy way (plus laying a hand in her head).

“Even before we walk in this world, God has manually ripped our hearts open and implanted us with flaming desires for His will.”

Dream, that’s what most of us are being oblivious about. Know your profound desires, because God definitely wants us to be more than “mayaman”, more than having a “stable na trabaho” and certainly much much more than “stupid morons”

Like another pal of mine put it, the answers are already inside us.

Understood *****roach?

Yes Kangaroo!.

Back to the future, I still think I and this dining friend of mine were still the same. Invincible. Even though we’re bruised of the punches of the real world, I think we still are the same aspirers. We don’t let our dreams fade away. And another amazing thing we’ve discovered, Big-Mac is one of the wonders of this world. Yuuuum.
