16th Philippine Travel Mart Launched, PHILTOA Lauds DOT |
|
 The Philippine Tour Operators Associations (PHILTOA) and members of the private sector lauded Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano for continuing the aggressive campaign and support to domestic tourism during the launching of the 16th Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) at the Crown Plaza Galleria Manila recently.
Tourism Secretary Durano said, "The staging of the Philippine Travel Mart has
become relevant and strategic to the tourism industry because it opens door for
emerging destinations to be promoted to a wider audience in a cost effective
manner."
Leo Picaso, PHILTOA president, announced that preparations are all set for the
16th Philippine Travel Mart, the country's most extensive travel and trade fair
to be held on Septmeber 9-11 at the SM Megatrade Halls in SM Megamall in
Mandaluyong featuring this year's theme: "WoW! The B.E.S.T. of the Philippines!
Tara Na! Biyahe Tayo!"
Tourism Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab, who delivered the keynote address during
the launching, urged the tour operators to create more tour packages, promote
and develop untapped destinations and support future tourism events like the
Southeast Asian Games.
The upcoming PTM is going to be the biggest one-stop shop display of tourism and
travel trade exhibition showcasing quality products, tourist destinations, and
properties being marketed to both domestic and foreign travelers.
It also provides a forum for domestic seller-exhibitors to meet buyers-travelers
to generate immediate business transaction at the same time it recognizes the
importance of travel within the Philippines as a significant component of the
tourism industry.
PTM strengthens the relationship between the government and the private sector
in promoting sustainable tourism.
The tour operators acknowledge the joint efforts of other government agencies
such as Department of Agriculture, Philippine Tourism Authority, PAGCOR, and the
private sector, especially the airlines partners for the continued success of
the travel mart through its 16 years of existence.
The launching was attended by members of the PHILTOA, tourism officials,
airlines, shipping lines, hotels, resorts, transport companies, and other
tourism-related establishments representatives.
